Service — Back-Office Partners

You do the work with your eyes closed.
Someone else should run the back office.

Vetted providers who work only with the federal government — DCAA-compliant accounting, HR, contracts administration, cybersecurity. The compliance you can't skip, done by people who do it every day. You focus on the contract; they run the machine underneath it.

The problem

Federal back office is a specialty. Most companies try to fake it.

The technical work is not the problem. The infrastructure that federal contracts require underneath it — that's what kills companies.

01
Commercial bookkeepers doing DCAA work. QuickBooks defaults do not meet federal cost accounting standards. Timekeeping, indirect rates, unallowable cost segregation — a commercial accountant will get it wrong until an auditor arrives. Then it's too late.
02
HR without federal experience. Service Contract Act, Davis-Bacon, prevailing wage, security clearance administration — none of it exists in commercial HR. Missing it is a compliance failure and a lawsuit waiting.
03
Contracts administration by the founder. Mods, invoices, closeouts, subcontractor flow-downs — the paperwork stack for one federal contract is bigger than most companies' entire commercial admin load. Doing it yourself steals capacity from delivery.
04
Cybersecurity as an afterthought. CMMC, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP — the compliance bar keeps rising. Retrofitting security after award is expensive. Building it in during onboarding is cheap. Most companies do the expensive version.
05
Reinventing the back office from scratch. Every capable operator who steps into GovCon rebuilds a compliance stack their first year. The stack already exists. You don't have to build it.
How we match

Six steps. The right provider, not the loudest one.

Matching is not a directory. It's a fit process — the provider has to be right for your size, sector, and stage.

STEP 01

Back-office assessment

We map what you have today: bookkeeping tools, HR structure, contracts capacity, IT and security posture. Then we map what you'll need for the federal contracts you're pursuing or holding. Gap analysis, not a sales pitch.

STEP 02

Provider shortlist

From our vetted network of federal-only back-office firms, we shortlist three to five candidates per function. Every provider on our list works exclusively or predominantly with government contractors — no commercial firms pretending to know DCAA.

STEP 03

Fit interviews

We coordinate calls between you and the shortlisted providers. We attend, ask the diligence questions most contractors don't know to ask, and give you notes afterward. You choose; we make sure you're choosing on the right criteria.

STEP 04

Scope and pricing sanity check

Federal back-office pricing is not transparent. We benchmark proposals against what similar-sized contractors pay, flag scope gaps, and negotiate terms where they're out of range. You don't overpay because you don't know what "market" looks like.

STEP 05

Transition management

Switching providers or standing up new ones has failure modes. We manage the transition timeline, data migration, and handoff so you don't lose invoicing continuity or drop a compliance ball mid-move.

STEP 06

Ongoing relationship health

Six months in, we check whether the provider is delivering what was scoped. If not, we surface it and either fix the relationship or start a replacement search. The match is not one-and-done.

Functions we match

What "back office" actually means.

DCAA-compliant accounting

Cost accounting, indirect rate structures, timekeeping systems, and audit readiness. Bookkeeping that passes federal review.

Federal HR and payroll

Service Contract Act, Davis-Bacon, benefits administration, and clearance tracking. HR that knows federal employment law cold.

Contracts administration

Mods, invoicing, subcontractor flow-downs, closeouts. The paperwork engine behind every federal contract.

Cybersecurity and compliance

CMMC, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, ATO readiness. Providers who build compliant systems, not just documentation.

Insurance and bonding

Federal-appropriate general liability, professional liability, cyber, and — where required — performance bonding.

IT and systems

GCC High, federal-cloud environments, and endpoint management for contractors handling CUI or classified data.

Who this is for

Operators who shouldn't be their own back office.

You just won your first federal contract — and realized the accounting system, HR, and contracts admin you were using commercially won't hold up.
You're pursuing your first federal award and want to be back-office-ready on day one instead of scrambling after.
You have a commercial accountant doing federal work and something feels wrong — but you're not sure what to ask.
You stepped away from GovCon because the back-office load was crushing. It doesn't have to be.
You're growing into CMMC or FedRAMP scope and need providers who can meet the compliance bar without a full-time internal team.
Questions

Straight answers.

Do you take a referral fee from the providers?

No. Our fee is paid by you. That's the point — if we took referral fees, we'd match you to whoever pays the most, not whoever fits best. We do not.

Can't we just find these providers ourselves?

You can. Most contractors do, and most pick badly because they can't tell a federal-experienced firm from a commercial firm with a good federal-sounding website. That's exactly the failure mode we're solving.

What if we already have some of this in place?

Great. The assessment tells you which existing pieces are working and which need to change. We won't replace a good provider — but if the accountant doing your DCAA work isn't federal, we'll say so.

How much do the providers themselves cost?

Wide range. Bookkeeping under $2K/month for very small contractors; large-firm HR/contracts/accounting stacks in the tens of thousands monthly for growing contractors. We benchmark and give you honest ranges before you talk to anyone.

How much does the matching engagement cost?

Fixed price by scope — one function or the full back-office stack. Quoted after the assessment call. No hourly billing.

Do you help transition off a bad provider?

Yes. Transitions are usually where the mess is — data migration, timekeeping cutovers, invoicing continuity. That's part of the engagement, not an upsell.

Do the work.
Let someone else run the machine underneath.

A 45-minute fit assessment. No cost, no obligation, no follow-up drip.
